I Love My DAW

Ableton Live 12

Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen

Digital recording is made easy with this dynamic duo.

I was first introduced to Ableton back in the Version 5 days when it came as companion software to a breakout box and card that allowed me to connect my guitars and microphones to my computer using my standard instrument cables.

The learning curve can be as simple or as deep as a beginner or seasoned recording artist requires.  The software you’ll grow into not out of.

Well worth the investment!

I stepped away from recording for a while, okay, a decade, so a long while.

Technology advanced, my Dell Optiplex, with Win XP, was outdated, my software was outdated and USB has replaced the need to open your computer to add the ability to connect your instruments, so I upgraded everything.

A decent refurbished pick up I went with from Walmart.

The Focusrite Scarlett PiP 4th Gen is tops in it’s class.  Features, functions, quality, price… WOW!

Best part?  Ableton 12 Lite is now the paired software that comes with the purchase of a Scarlett!

Analog Artist in The Digital Age

With Ableton, the only limit really is my imagination and creativity.  Anything I ask of it, I have been able to accomplish.

I like the ease of importing a bed to dance upon or to begin with a drum pattern, sound and feel and build up from there using a mix of electric and acoustic instruments.

The tools contained within the software to enhance, distort, warp or tweak in seemingly endless ways is built-in.

The Scarlett allows me to capture my voice and instruments with crisp clear signal and does all of the math in Ableton, so there is no lag.

An artist needs to feel unconfined during the process.  The pairing of these to has made the process of recording so effortless that I was able to produce the ParaDoxx album over the span of about three months!
